Healing Arts Festival Edinburgh

St Catherine’s Argyle Church Hall,

On Saturday 24th August 2024  Teachers Katie and Kate held an

afternoon of circle dance, with the theme

'Health and Well being'

in the delightful hall where their regular  Saturday sessions are held

This session  was part of a week of events held during

the Edinburgh Festival organised by Healing Arts

Scotland in collaboration with The World Health

Organisation to promote the benefits which various

art forms can bring to individuals and communities.

Twenty six people attended from central and southern Scotland.

The carefully chosen dances highlighted  the

benefits of connecting with others, supporting each

other, mindfulness, and movement.

During the afternoon break it was uplifting to hear

much chatter and laughter as people interacted with

each other.

By the end of the afternoon it was concluded that the aims had been

achieved of connecting, supporting being mindful of each others’ needs

and of course movement in dance.

The chosen dances were:-

We Are Here - The song lyrics encourages being

together, appreciating one another.

Kyrie in Memorium- the actions in the dance allow us

to unburden whilst being supported.

Transition - centering, being in the present, mindfully

moving forward.

First Love- acceptance of self, a flowing movement

dance.

Path of Dreams - conveying positive attitude

Mandala- Sacred circle, appreciation, sharing energy.

The Mist- having the support of another when dealing

with insecurity.

You Will Have Peace- a feeling of well being.

Love Is - what every human thrives on.
