An outing to the Beacon Art Centre Greenock for a day of dance was organised by Jenny Oswald who leads the Milngavie group.

Dancers from other CDFA groups joined the outing from Anniesland, Balloch, Carluke and Paisley, meeting up at Glasgow Central Station. Travelling together to the venue having met up with fellow circle dancers added to the excitement and anticipation of a day to be spent dancing close to the banks of the River Clyde.

The view from the first floor studio across the river was breathtaking, enhanced by the sunlight flooding into the space.

A selection of dances with a maritime theme had been devised by Jenny, with Jo Freeman assisting by leading the dance Wellerman sung by Nathan Evans to her own choreography.

There was a gentle pace to the day with plenty of time for lunch in the cafe or eating a picnic in the delightful surroundings both inside and outside the centre.

The photographs despite our best efforts do not do justice to the location. As the dancers came through the door to the studio they uttered either ‘Wow’ or ‘Amazing’’!

A coming together of like minded people, making new friends and meeting up with others, is the recipe for success, added to this dancing in a beautiful location greatly increases the enjoyment of the day.

Thanks are due to Jenny for her untiring commitment to circle dancing and introducing this exceptional dance space to us all.
