Dancing with the overseas students October 22

Wellington Church Glasgow

Friday in November 2022 we danced the night away at Wellington Church Hall with the Overseas Students Club. This is run by volunteers from the Wellington Church which is just opposite Galsgow University.  This club is open to overseas students from the whole of Glasgow. Many overseas students and their friends have been made very welcome by this group.

We first met the organisers of this group when we were invited to be a flash dance mob at a book launch and art exhibition by artist and writer Debs Sanderson at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie in 2015. They enjoyed the flash mob dance so much that then and there they invited us to bring some Circle Dancing to the group in 2016. That night was so successful they have invited us every year since, except of course the “covid years”!

Friday night 27th October 22 was when  we fairly tripped the light fantastic with dances from Portugal, Hungary, South Africa, North America, Ukraine, Greece and last but no means least Scotland. There were students there from all over the world bringing with them their wonderful energy and enthusiasm for dance. This was very infectious and all the Circle Dancers who came had a ball. We were warmly greeted and supported by all the volunteers of the Overseas Students Club based in Wellington Church. A great night was it truly was.
We look forward to this event in 2023.
